The Promotion Plan
Publishing great content is not enough. You need a deliberate promotion strategy to get it in front of the people who can link to it.
Week 1: Launch Promotion
Day 1-2: Owned Channels
- Share on all your social media profiles
- Send to your email newsletter subscribers
- Post in relevant internal Slack channels and team chats
- Add internal links from existing high-traffic pages
Day 3-5: Community Outreach
- Share in relevant Slack communities (follow channel rules)
- Post in niche forums and discussion groups
- Submit to relevant subreddits with genuine commentary
- Share in LinkedIn groups where your audience is active
Day 5-7: Direct Outreach
- Email 20-30 people who have linked to similar content in the past
- Reach out to people mentioned or quoted in the content
- Contact site owners who have resource pages on the topic
Week 2-4: Sustained Promotion
- Repurpose the content into different formats (video summary, slide deck, infographic)
- Pitch it as a resource for journalists and bloggers covering the topic
- Use it as a link exchange asset — offer it to partners who need high-quality content to link to
- Submit to content aggregators and curated newsletter lists
