Why Automated Monitoring
Manual link checking does not scale. Once you have 50+ active exchanges, daily manual verification becomes impractical. Automated monitoring ensures you catch issues within hours, not weeks.
Setting Up Monitoring in Linkorite
Step 1: Import Your Links
- Add all active exchange links to Linkorite’s monitoring system
- Include both your outbound links and partner inbound links
- Record the expected attributes for each link (dofollow, anchor text, placement)
Step 2: Configure Check Frequency
- High-priority exchanges (top 20% by partner score): Daily checks
- Standard exchanges: Every 3 days
- Low-priority or stable exchanges: Weekly checks
Step 3: Define Alert Triggers
Set up alerts for these events:
- Link removed from the page
- Link changed from dofollow to nofollow
- Linking page returns a 4xx or 5xx error
- Anchor text changed from agreed terms
- Linking page de-indexed from Google
- New robots.txt rule blocking the linking page
Alert Routing
Critical Alerts (Immediate)
- Link removed or nofollow change on high-priority exchanges
- Route to: Team lead via Slack or email notification
Warning Alerts (Daily Digest)
- Page errors, anchor text changes, minor issues
- Route to: Assigned team member via daily summary email
Informational Alerts (Weekly Summary)
- Metric changes, traffic fluctuations on linking pages
- Route to: SEO Manager via weekly report
Responding to Alerts
- Review the alert details in Linkorite
- Verify the issue manually if needed
- Follow the appropriate response protocol (see Detecting Removed Links playbook)
- Log the resolution in the exchange record
- Update the partner score if the issue reflects a pattern
